Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Company has launched yet another corporate social responsibility initiative –100 Bright Minds, aimed at fostering academic excellence as a tool for long-term growth and development.  The event, which held at Government Junior Secondary School Apo Resettlement, Abuja, engaged over 100 school children in a one-day mentorship program designed to highlight the role of infrastructure in national development and encourage academic excellence in primary school children.

The initiative, which coincided with Children’s Day celebrations, is part of the company’s long-term vision to build an Africa filled with possibilities by investing in the minds of its future workforce.

With a skills gap costing Africa an estimated $3.3 trillion annually, the continent currently ranks lowest in global education indicators, according to the United Nations. This is particularly concerning as Africa is projected to become one of the most populous regions by 2050. In response, Strom is taking proactive steps to ensure that African children have access to the tools and resources they need to achieve academic excellence.

“Africa’s young minds are its future. If we dream of a better tomorrow, we must begin by building better minds today,” said Awoyomi Damilola, Team Lead of the Strom Foundation.

The 100 Bright Minds Initiative Has Four Core Objectives:

  • Highlight the critical role of Infrastructure in national development
  • To motivate African children to dream big and pursue excellence
  • To support academic performance by providing essential learning resources
  • To connect brilliant young minds with long-term mentorship through the Strom Foundation

The workshop featured engaging sessions such as Q&A forums, career mapping exercises, and mini-lectures that highlighted the crucial role infrastructure plays in shaping Africa’s development

This initiative complements Strom’s earlier educational commitment, the Strom Scholars Awards, which support high-achieving graduates of African institutions. While the Strom Scholars Awards focuses on tertiary-level students, the 100 Bright Minds initiative serves as the company’s avenue for encouraging academic pursuits at formative stages.

Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Company is a socially responsible organization committed to bridging Africa’s infrastructure gap through strategic investments. Its corporate social responsibility efforts focus on empowering the continent’s future workforce and the institutions that support them.

The 100 Bright Minds initiative reflects Strom’s belief that sustainable growth begins by addressing challenges at the foundation -in schools, homes, and communities.
