For many young Nigerians, graduation is meant to be a moment of triumph. Yet for too many, it also marks the beginning of uncertainty, questions about opportunity, access, and what comes next.

It is this critical transition point that Strom Infrastructure Investment C Management Company seeks to address through the Strom Foundation and its flagship academic excellence initiative, the Strom Scholars Award.

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, the second edition of the Strom Scholars Award was hosted at the Plateau State University at its 8th & 9th Combined Convocation, reaffirming its commitment to youth development, education, and long-term impact.

Through the Strom Scholars Award, ten outstanding graduating students were each awarded ₦500,000, totalling ₦5 million in financial support. But beyond the monetary award, the initiative offers mentorship to help scholars navigate the often-challenging transition from academic excellence to economic participation.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the Foundation, Ibimina Young Arney described the award as more than recognition; it is an investment in possibilities.

“At Strom, we are builders but not only of infrastructure but of systems, opportunities, futures, and possibilities. We believe that true development must improve lives. The Strom Scholars Award is a direct expression of that belief.”

She noted that the award recognises not only academic performance, but discipline, resilience, and the promise of leadership.

“Today is about celebrating your hard work, but it is also about signaling our belief in your future. You represent the intellect, character, and potential that will shape Plateau State and Nigeria in the years ahead.”

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor commended Strom for reinforcing the value of excellence within the university community.

“This award sends a strong message to our students that their hard work matters. It strengthens the culture of merit and aspiration that we continue to build here.”

The Strom Scholars Award sits within the broader mission of the Strom Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Company which focuses on sustainable community impact. The Foundation works alongside local and regional partners to create environments where young people can thrive, believing that education, empowerment, and access to opportunity are catalysts for long-term transformation.

Now in its second edition, the Strom Scholars Award continues to grow as a defining pillar of Strom Infraco’s CSR strategy. One grounded in integrity, excellence, innovation, partnership, and sustainability.

As the ceremony concluded, one message resonated clearly:

The scholars being honoured are not simply beneficiaries of opportunity but they are also future creators of it. And Strom intends to walk that journey with them.
